Dubsided · Moombahton · Beatport #1 · Architects of a genre
Excerpt

Ecuadorian-American, first generation. Virginia skater turned Grammy-nominated engineer. Deep Dish resident. Prime architects of moombahton. And they still find time to iFart at the wrong moment.

"To quote George Clinton: one nation under a groove."

Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom come from different worlds, but share a ravenous appetite for extremes. They came together in Washington DC in the fall of 2007, after some heavy drinking and a lot of conversations about the meaning of life and a few song ideas. Switch, the legendary producer and XLR8R artist of the year, heard their initial tracks and immediately signed them to his Dubsided imprint. Their debut EP "Pussy" went to number one on Beatport. From there, the trajectory only accelerated.

As the prime architects of moombahton, the duo have been praised in Spin and Rolling Stone, pumped on BBC Radio 1 and NPR, and revered at nightclubs and festivals across the planet. Their "Moombahton Massive" parties with DJ Sabo became a movement of their own. The genre they helped invent now has its own Wikipedia page. They have always been about one thing: moving the crowd through music exploration and developing positive relationships with like-minded people from all over the world.

DC hardcore punk · Baltimore club · Taxlo residency

Grew up surrounded by cumbia, salsa, merengue and reggaeton. Gravitated toward Washington's legendary hardcore punk scene, played in bands while learning to DJ on college radio. A move to Baltimore landed him in the second surge of Baltimore club music, where he DJed alongside K-Swift, Rod Lee and DJ Technics.

Skateboarding provided the contact point with punk, metal and hip-hop. Swapped the skateboard for turntables, switched his college major from psychology to audio engineering. Became the resident engineer for DC house heroes Deep Dish. Piloted recording sessions with Stevie Nicks. Grammy nomination followed.

Antakly Projects

We have been a part of this change, using social media to expose the works of some of the most inspiring artists in the world and putting you, the reader, in touch with them directly. There is no need for only a few people in a flawed system to dictate what artists can and cannot be exposed to. Today it is more important than ever to preserve the artist's perspective. Because artists are. ✦
