Halleh Amiralai's introduction to the New York fashion world began at CHANEL Ready-to-Wear, where she joined as an account executive and showroom coordinator. She was then handpicked by Alice Temperley to launch the Temperley London private sales showroom in NYC — collaborating with stylists like Rachel Zoe and Patricia Field, and dressing Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, and Keira Knightley. Then she built something entirely her own.
What is HALLEH?
HALLEH is my namesake line of precious jewelry — every piece carries a piece of my life. My designs are inspired by my travels and Persian heritage, fused together to create something entirely original.
The collection began, as the best ones often do, from personal dissatisfaction. Amiralai grew tired of seeing the same jewelry repeated in boutique after boutique. So she made her own.
When others noticed the pieces I made and wore for personal pleasure, I knew I was onto something special.
— Halleh AmiralaiThe Leo in her, she says, is always searching for the best. The collection features one-of-a-kind cocktail rings, necklaces, bangles, cuffs, and earrings — all handmade in 18k yellow gold with a soft matte finish.
Who is your ideal customer?
I design for the confident woman about town. A girl can wear head-to-toe designer labels, but without confidence, the look falls flat. My customer has her own sense of style — she doesn't chase fleeting trends. She knows the power of one standout piece to elevate her look.
Who are the chicest women in NYC?
Lauren Santo Domingo and Sally Albermarle. Both are effortlessly elegant, with a timeless core style. I met Lauren in Cartagena years ago on her now-husband's boat — she looked just as stunning in a bikini and caftan as she did later that evening in a gown.
Best stores to buy jewelry in New York?
Kirna Zabete and Fragments.
Things you can't live without?
My yoga mat.
How often do you create new pieces?
In my head: every minute. In my studio: every day.
Do you have a design philosophy?
I want wearers to feel good in my pieces. Gold warms the soul — and it's an antioxidant, great for warding off cancers.
