The Artist

Born in Seville in 1985, Ana Jarén started her career as an executive in fashion communication in Madrid in 2009. In close contact with first-level fashion designers, her most creative side began to grow — initiating her first works as a fashion illustrator in 2010.

The Work

In her illustrations, precious and full of colour, Ana represents the beauty of daily life moments. The protagonists are mostly girls — icons of popular culture, set in cosy environments, surrounded by products of daily consumption, magazines, flowers, and warmth.

In Conversation

Ana, your greatest inspirations or influences?

I try to represent the beauty of daily life moments. In my illustrations, the protagonists are mostly girls, inspired by icons of popular culture, set in cosy environments, surrounded by products of daily consumption, magazines...

How important does social media play in exposing your work?

It is really important because, thanks to it, I can reach a lot of different people from all over the world. It is a very useful tool but I think it is important to keep it as just this — a tool — without interfering too much in the creative side and inspirations.

"There is a huge amount of people who've told me that they find themselves reflected in my illustrations. Not only because of a resemblance but also because of the scenes and atmosphere represented."

Tell us about the art scene in Spain compared to the rest of the world?

Difficult to say because the world is very interconnected. What I can say in terms of illustration is that there is a young generation of Spanish illustrators that are doing really good work.

What would be a dream project for you?

It would be a project involving decoration, fashion... A whole collection of illustrated goods would be a nice job.

Anything else you'd like to share?

Just, stay tuned for upcoming projects. Currently I am working a lot on some very beautiful things! To be continued...
