Meet Amirah Kassem — Brooklyn's Cake Extraordinaire
C.R.E.A.M — Cake Rules Everything Around Me. Welcome to the colorful, funky, fondant-free world of Amirah Kassem. Brooklyn-based baker, Wu-Tang collaborator, Stella McCartney inspiration, and the woman who eats ice cream for breakfast in a Disney-themed kitchen. Her trompe-l'œil cake burger and fries caught the attention of Vogue, Nylon, and every fashion-minded party in New York. And the Wu-Tang Clan found her on Instagram.

From Basketball Courts to
Buttercream
Amirah learned to bake from an early age from her mom in Mexico. She studied in New York and began her career in fashion — eventually becoming GM at BLK DNM. During this time she began making cake balls for her friends, and the word spread rapidly. Soon enough, people were walking into BLK DNM asking for the "cake girl."
She left fashion and opened Flour Shop. Her fashion contacts became her number one clients. She's definitely not just another baker making cupcakes — taste and quality are always the top priority, which is why she never uses fondant.
She openly admits her cakes might not look perfect. That's exactly the point. They are original creations — edible pieces of art.
Her trompe-l'œil cake burger and fries creations have caught the attention of Vogue, Nylon, and the entire fashion world. She collaborated with the Wu-Tang Clan on a dessert collection that was photographed and exhibited. They found her on Instagram. Of course they did.

What Happened Next Was
Everything
Cara the Unicorn Explosion Cake was named Instagram's most memorable trend of 2017. The sprinkle-filled, rainbow-layered cut-open moment became a global phenomenon.

Guest appearances on TODAY, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Rachael Ray Show, The Drew Barrymore Show, and Home & Family.
Featured on the cover of Bon Appétit and in Refinery29, Food & Wine, and many others. The fashion press that discovered her first never stopped watching.
Work featured at the Whitney Museum and Brooklyn Museum. In 2015 she used 10,000 gumballs to create an installation for the Brooklyn Museum's Takashi Murakami celebration. A Venice gallery exhibited the "Burning Calories" series with photographer Henry Hargreaves.
In 2019, launched a world-wide kitchen and table collection with Williams-Sonoma — called "a refined rainbow" by Elle Decor. A Pottery Barn Kids home collection followed. In 2020, a limited-edition Vans collaboration across footwear and clothing.
Amirah now resides in Los Angeles with her husband and business partner, Ross "The Boss" Harrow. They have a daughter named Coco and a son named Kenzo.
Amirah and Henry Hargreaves collaborated on a photo series celebrating the Wu-Tang Clan's 20th anniversary for the Wu-Tang Brand. They found her on Instagram. The rest is history.
Amirah began her career in fashion while attending FIDM — working for 7 For All Mankind and Fred Segal, then moving into high fashion through Interview Magazine, Karl Templer, and alongside Johan Lindeberg in the launch of BLK DNM. She brought that world with her when she walked into the kitchen. It never left.
The cakes are not just cakes. They are the fashion world's sweet tooth — and the art world's dessert table — and a kid's birthday dream — all in one room, with sprinkles on everything.
