About the Label
Life
and Death
Founded at the end of 2010, Life and Death was born out of the attempt to give light to innumerable amounts of archived music. As one of the most coveted independent labels of the present, their music hovers around dark pop and house with a definite psychedelic sensibility.
Elegant styles stemming from obscurity and indirectness — the result of a desire for non-immediate dancefloor bombs. Rather, melodic and tasteful tunes built around the concept of incorporating influences of Italian Cosmic Disco and UK/US New Wave and Indie heritage, without the intention of reviving old sounds. Instead, creating new ones.
The Founders
Manfredi Romano (DJ Tennis) — longtime soundtrack producer, fine chef and restaurateur. A man who balances life between Paris and Miami, motorbikes, vintage collectibles, and a vast vinyl collection.
Greg Oreck — one half of New York house duo Thugfucker.
Karm — completing the inner circle.
Matteo Milleri (Tale of Us) — the fourth corner of the family.
After just a few releases, Life and Death's sound has found its way into the bacchanalian fray of some of the best parties worldwide.

The Family
DJ Tennis · Founder
Manfredi Romano
From tour-managing punk bands to crafting intricate electronic sounds as DJ Tennis, Romano has shaped music with a unique vision. A fine chef and restaurateur, he balances life between Paris and Miami, with motorbikes and a vast vinyl collection always nearby. Life and Death is the culmination of his eclectic artistic life.
Thugfucker · New York
Greg Oreck
One half of New York house duo Thugfucker, Oreck brings a raw, underground NYC sensibility to the label's DNA. His eclectic musical background complements Romano's vision perfectly — the kind of partnership that makes the sum far stranger and greater than its parts.
Life and Death
Karm
The third essential element in the Life and Death core family. A quiet force completing the triangle of the label's founding vision, contributing to the label's reputation for non-immediate, melodic, and deeply psychedelic selections.
Tale of Us · Afterlife
Matteo Milleri
One half of Tale of Us, Milleri's connection to Life and Death runs deep — as artist, collaborator, and family member. His later Afterlife project would go on to become one of electronic music's defining labels, but the seeds were planted here.

TALE OF US
Carmine Conte was born in Toronto and Matteo Milleri in New York. Both moved to Italy at a young age and met in Milan in 2008 while studying sound engineering at the SAE Institute. They relocated to Berlin and began recording together.
Their debut EP Dark Song was released in 2011. Their sound is distinctive — lush and cinematic, intertwining classical instrumentation with modern beats, creating a rich, textured, deeply atmospheric approach that pushes the boundaries of techno and house, inviting listeners into a journey with each set and track.
In 2016 they founded the Afterlife label, which became a massive platform for melodic techno, known for its immersive audiovisual and futuristic stage productions. Both members have since developed successful solo careers — Anyma and MRAK.
