Edu Imbernon: Valencia’s Melodic Maestro Shaping Electronic Music’s Future

Edu Imbernon: Valencia’s Melodic Maestro Shaping Electronic Music’s Future

The Rise of a Sonic Storyteller

At just 22 years old, Edu Imbernon has already cemented himself as one of electronic music’s most compelling voices. Hailing from Valencia, Spain, Imbernon exploded onto the global stage with “El Baile Alemán”—his 2009 smash with Coyu that became Beatport’s #1 track of the year and earned fervent support from legends like Ricardo Villalobos, Marco Carola, and Agoria. But it’s his genre-defying remix of The xx’s “Crystalised” that revealed his true superpower: blending live instrumentation, emotive vocals, and club-ready beats into a sound that’s uniquely his own.

From Ibiza’s iconic Space to underground hubs worldwide, Imbernon’s sets are emotional journeys—a trait that’s fueled his evolution as a producer, label owner, and event curator. We caught up with the artist to discuss inspiration, dream collaborations, and why Florence + The Machine might be next on his remix radar.

The Interview

Leila Antakly: Your sound merges melody with dancefloor energy. What fuels your creativity?

Edu Imbernon: Everything. The weather, my family, my girlfriend, even the energy of last weekend’s gig. Life itself is my muse.

Most unforgettable performance?

EI: Off Sonar 2010 at Moog Barcelona—playing alongside Los Suruba, Uner, and Affkt. That crowd’s energy was electric.

Upcoming gigs we can’t miss?

EI: Space Ibiza on July 7th & 21st, August 25th, and the closing party October 2nd. Plus tours across the UK, Germany, and Scandinavia!

Dream collaborations?

EI: Remixing Florence + The Machine would be a dream. Their emotion aligns with my sound. For now, I’m proud of my work with Maya Jane Coles and X-Press 2.

Thank you for joining me today Edu, anything else?

EI: Gracias for the love. Valencia raised me, but the world shapes my music. Expect more live instruments, vocals, and stories in my next chapter.

In an era of formulaic dance music, Imbernon’s melodic depth and live-production ethos stand out. Tracks like “Fixing Fires” and “Bitter Fate” prove house music can be both cerebral and soul-shaking.
