DON'T CALL IT A BLOG
CECI N’EST PAS UNE BLOG
I often get asked what is Ninu Nina”? Is it a blog?
The truth is, I started this site over 10 years ago randomly and I never monetized it mostly because I didn’t know how to without compromising on the quality of content and I didn’t want to be one more person trying to be an i’nfluencer’ in any way. The term alone bugs me. so No, this is different.
As in previous posts, I have shared my love/hate thoughts on social media and our dependence on the smart phone. Recently I picked up a new brand of ice cream at the convenient store put it back on the shelf immediately and not even 10 minutes later both a facebook and instagram ad popped up of the same ice cream brand on my phone. I guess at this point we all know its official, that our privacy is dead and we just accept it. Its not just the paranoia, I also get incredibly frustrated to see talented creatives having to depend on ‘paid sponsors’ in order to produce their work, which very much changes the fabric of original creativity and the authenticity of their art. Their platform no longer becomes a place to showcase their raw talent but becomes a gallery of regular, and at times ugly narcissistic shameless self promotion ( yawn, waste of time).
Ninu Nina, has been a platform allowing me to interview INTERESTING creative people from all over the world, curate the visuals of their work and has been an outlet to voice my random opinions on a variety of subjects which has led me to some interesting gigs. Learning to use social media , basically, filtering , unfollowing and muting accounts in order to improve the content on my newsfeed has also made a huge impact on the quality of content I engage with and way less time spent on social .I’m sorry but i don’t care to see what you ate for breakfast, what juice you picked up for work, what work out your doing or that you own 40 of the same shoes in your closet. I also don’t need more inspirational quotes, specially when they’re the captions of highly retouched bikini selfies. ( I do love meme's, and follow @supersluttysnake and @classicalfuck for my daily dose).
My platform is simply a a curated online magazine featuring art, photography, designers, friends, global initiatives, music, and rantings which have surprisingly led me to some interesting writing and editing opportunities. Its also put me in touch with several of my current clients where I am consulting and developing digital strategy from beauty, fashion, design to some big production work.
My aim is to provide something a little different and share ( what I think is) interesting and mostly creative content. Have ideas? or want to collaborate please connect!
