ARTIST ANDREI NISTOR
Andrei NIstor is a 33 year old multi medium artist who grew up in a city near the capital of Romania. Art has been a part of him since he can remember. He furthered his passion by continuing his art studies at the Bucharest University of Art, ( the Faculty of Decorative Arts and Design where he got his BA in 2008) and later a Master in design. He says that understanding art from an educational perspective allowed him tools and a set of skills, but now he allows his creativity to express itself freely by experimenting with ideas and different materials.
He has participated in several group exhibitions and has been represented by gallery in Bucharest.
I recently made a limited edition of handmade lamps that are sculptural but have utility and practicality in their design . In the future I want to create an exhibition where art and design meet and are combined to define a very unique atmosphere. So watch this space.

Tell us about your creative process.
Well if it’s a spontaneous one, a work can be finished in two to five days. If Im working on something more elaborate THEN the process can take up to two months. Commission work usually have deadlines, so it depends. The artworks which I create develop by themselves. I call this 'flow'.
Art comes out without the limitation of the mind, meaning without controlling it by thoughts. Art, itself, is a meditation: no similarities, no artistic canons, just pure instinct and devotion to the feeling itself AND Trusting that the colours will be in perfect harmony. “Flow' is like water And so are we. Any artistic act is in permanent expansion.

What role do you feel an artist has in society?
I can’t talk for other artists, but for me personally, the idea is that art is to provide joy, beautiful images that can inspire, and express the greatness and wonder of creation itself.
