Benjamin Lacombe is an amazing young illustrator born in Paris in 1982. What I love about his work is that he captures his own little magic universe, with traces of influences from Tim Burton, Hitchcock and Edgar Allan Poe, and magically transports us into this world with his art.
Admirer of film makers Almodovar and Lars von Trier, Lacombe acknowledges that life is inspired and characters around him, besides being passionate about painting quatrroccento Flemish primitives, and artists working with painted photographs as Desiree Dolron.
Benjamin attended the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs of Paris (ENSAD) where he pursued his artistic education in 2001. In addition to his studies, he worked as an advertising and animated movie artist before completing his first comic series at the age of 19. He has written, illustrated and published many books since and exhibits his work regularly all over the world.
Benjamin currently lives and works in Paris with his dog Virgile.
