The macaron -- an almond-based meringue, ganache-filled, tiny-sized delicacy that has little to do with coconut macaroons -- and is a my current Parisian obsession. Everyone has their favorite flavor, perfume, and patissiere. They make lovely gifts but dont travel well.

- Pierre Hermé - The most famous pastry chef in the world, one of his most famous creations is a rose flavored macaron with rose cream, lychees, and fresh raspberries.
- Ladurée- Sofia Coppola used the pastels of Ladurée's macarons as a color palate for her film Marie Antoinette.
