The name behind the newest live online radio show - “Weekly Record Check”
is Peter Kazimierski, aka PeteOne. Pete, a native of Poland, is a Chicago
based DJ, producer, promoter, ex night club manager and party organizer. 2006 was a breakthrough one for his DJ career. He got recognized by
AMP Productions, a DJ and artist management agency. Soon after, he landed a
monthly residency at the world-renowned Vision Nightclub in Chicago. Gigs came rolling in after that, and he was also featured on
radio and Internet stations. He played
alongside well known artists like Lance DeSardi, DJ Kai, James Lauer, Hac
Lee, JT Donaldson, Blake Jarrell, James Curd etc.
In 2007 with a few of his fellow DJ friends he started bpmchicago an
electronic music promotion agency, but some inside problems led him to branch out on his own, and that’s how KONTROLL
MUSIC another DJ promo agency was created. Unfortunately without financial
backing and support it remained just a dream. Things were quiet the first half of 08
but in September a new idea was born to bring a live independent online
radio show that would feature the best current tracks in electronic dance music. The first 8 episodes were successfully aired near the end of the year and quickly gained international recognition.
How would you describe your music?
- Deep, sexy futuristic
house and techno. My influences come from everyday life, my surroundings,
people and the music I listen to.
- I admire artists like
Richie Hawtin, Guido Schneider, Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos and deep house
guru Ben Watt.
Favorite parties are Detroit Electronic Music
Festival back in 2007 and seeing the 3rd turntable taken away from Luciano while he was playing, Also
seeing Marco Carola and Paco Osuna destroying Rebel Nightclub at the after
hours party on the first night of the infamous Minitek Festival last year
(which I personally, found very fun).
- Besides justqualitymusic.com, I often check out
- Resident Advisor, Ibiza Voice, BBC radio one site or Ben Watt’s buzzin fly
page where he hosts his own radio show. I get most of my music from
Plans for 09?
Besides utilizing all of the marketing tools
(mailing list, social networks -etc) I will continue to
promote Weekly Record Check. I plan to take the show “on the road”.
I’m already starting to feature 30-45 min live mixes from different artists. Last week I had the pleasure of having my old friend DJ and
producer James Lauer, with his fantastic acid house filled Ableton Live mix. This week I have
Darin Epsilon who has multiple releases all over the best progressive house
labels including his newest release on Paul Oakenfold’s own Perfecto.
I’m currently looking for promoters interested in working with me on doing a
2hr live broadcast during the WMC week. Anyone “in biz” readers out there – drop me a line.
My biggest dream is to get the show on one of Chicago FM Radios
– there is no one who promotes proper electronic music in the city where
house music was born!
What you are looking forward to about WMC 09?
This year the line ups look very promising
I’m looking forward to seeing Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano tag set
at the Sunday school for Degenerates party, One Night Only as
well as a few smaller ones including Cheap Sunglasses.
I’m skipping ULTRA although would love to see The Prodigy perform live,
because I have been a huge fan ever since their first single released in
For a while, MINUS was leading in that category in my personal opinion.
Last year they definitely had lot of interesting releases but got lost in the middle of whole the return of the DEEP which is not necessarily bad. I myself have always enjoyed deeper sounds of house.
Few labels I really dig and are worth mentioning include :
OSLO, Cadenza, Rekids, Cecille, Freerange or BuzzinFly.
I really am very open to any type of music as long as it sounds interesting
Big thanks to all the current listeners for supporting the show,
